Politicians seem to be the same no matter what country you happen to be in.  Some of them just can’t help themselves and take absolutely idiotic positions.  The latest International Stupidity:  The Liberal Democrats in the UK have started pushing for a ban on the use of air-brushing when it comes to advertisements.

Why?  It puts pressure on young girls to live up to unrealistic examples.

There have been articles in various magazines on what air-brushing entails when it comes to preparing a magazine.  Based on those, these guys are completely bonkers.  Most air-brushing deals with things like removing inappropriately places wrinkles in clothes, poorly placed shadows, removing dandruff, etc.

Occasionally, there is a “Cosmetic” type procedure like removing bags from under a subject’s eyes, but the type of “Cosmetic” touches done on adult subjects aren’t the type of flaws 16 year old girls are likely to obsess about.  It’s not like magazine editors turn size 14 models into size 2’s with airbrushing.
